Tarun Tahiliani collaborates with artist Ravinder Dutt, incorporating Dutt's deeply narrative art into a curated collection of ensembles that embody Tahiliani's vision of "India Modern." Dutt's work draws inspiration from Delhi's historic monuments, his family's journey from Sialkot and Lahore to Srinagar and Delhi, the partition of India, and a rich tapestry of folklore, mythology, and fairytales. Feeling like a misfit in the modern era, Dutt creates his own history, layered with personal experiences and a fascination with objects from the past, which he collects and weaves into his art.Growing up surrounded by decorative art collected by his grandfather, Dutt's love for art and objects was evident from childhood. Despite his family's reluctance, typical in Punjabi households, he pursued his passion and left a management career in 2010 to become an artist. One of his significant works, "Rotations Reversed," was customized for Tahiliani and featured in the designer’s 25th-anniversary celebration and his book "Journey to India Modern." These artworks, originally created on canvas with archival Epson inks, were digitally printed on Tahiliani's garments, merging Dutt's evocative storytelling with contemporary fashion.
